Emily Lalas is Making an Impact for Non-Profits

4/27/2022 - By Allie Jackson

Earlier this month, non-profit organizations in Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties were invited to the IMPACT 100 Pensacola Bay Area Inc. Non-Profit Workshop & Social at the Brownsville Community Center in Pensacola to learn about the grant process, get tips for writing a successful grant and be inspired to create a winning project for IMPACT 100 Pensacola Bay Area's 19th year of giving. During the event, they also hosted a social as an opportunity to provide networking time amongst their local non-profit organizations!

What is IMPACT 100?

IMPACT 100 Pensacola Bay Area, Inc. was founded in 2003 by four local women and has grown to become the largest IMPACT 100 organization in the world. It is an organization of women committed to improving their community by providing grants to non-profit organizations in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties. IMPACT focuses on promoting and funding effective philanthropic efforts that are able to demonstrate a sustainable benefit to the community. In the 19 years since the Pensacola chapter began, this organization of philanthropic women has donated nearly $14 million to charities throughout the Escambia/Santa Rosa area and has funded 131 grants totaling $13,950,000 since 2004.

This year, IMPACT will be awarding eleven grants to fund non-profit projects in our area in the amount of $103,820 each.

Telling Your Story

One of our senior auditors, Emily Lalas, was a guest speaker at the Non-profit Workshop & Social and presented “Telling Your Story Through Financial Reporting”, which covered:

  • Basic financial statement terminology and concepts
  • Key metrics that donors evaluate when assessing a non-profit
  • How non-profits should tailor their cost allocation strategy to accurately present the true cost of operating their programs
  • How non-profits should use their 990 as a marketing tool

Emily has a passion for helping non-profits in the community and certainly made an impact at this workshop and event!
