On May 5th, we hosted our second Saltmarsh Fundamental Awards Ceremony! This celebration recognized individuals who live our 33 "Saltmarsh Way" Fundamentals to the fullest and practice the high-performing behaviors that continue building a sustainable culture throughout our firm.

"Our Fundamental Awards Ceremony is one way we ‘Show Meaningful Appreciation’ (Fundamental #22) and recognize our team members that truly live out the firm's values," said Director of People Development, Mel Kleinert. "It's always tough to choose the winner amongst so many committed and hard-working people."

Without further ado, the deserving winners were... 

The Trusted Advisor Award - Christina Maslen

This award was presented to a person of character in our firm who has earned and sustained an impeccable client experience by best exhibiting the following Fundamentals: (2) Make Quality Personal, (5) Do What’s Best for the Client, (10) Deliver Legendary Service, (25) Practice Good “Business Hygiene" and (29) Invest in Relationships

“Christina is a leader who cares about her clients and staff. She is hard working and always focused on doing the right thing! She embraces and encourages change for firm improvement,” said Tax Shareholder, Beth Skarda, CPA

 

The Seedling Award - Pierce Broscious

This award was presented to an individual who has exhibited a voracious desire to embrace growth (both personal and professional) by embodying the following Fundamentals: (6) Pay Attention to the Details, (8) Be Intensely Curious, (11) Take Action, (18) Take Ownership, (19) Be Relentless about Improvement, (21) Lean In To Growth, (28) Be a Lifelong Learner and (30) Look Ahead and Anticipate

“He has shown tremendous growth in his personal communication and on-job skills,” said Senior Financial Advisor, Chris Stennett, CFP®.

 

The Team Player Award - Stephen Helms-MacBeth, CRCM, CAFP

This award was presented to an individual in our firm who has demonstrated a desire to cultivate fellowship within his/her team by displaying characteristics of the following Fundamentals: (3) Help the Team Succeed, (7) Practice Empathy with Others, (12) Practice Blameless Problem Solving, (17) Treat Each Other Like Family, (26) Empower Others and (31) Collaborate

“Stephen is always poised and clear in how he communicates with others. He takes ownership and listens well. He is clear, intentional and responsive. I know when Stephen is charged with leading something, it will be well-executed and thoughtfully communicated,” said Director of Growth & Communications, Jayme Terrell.

 

The “Fun”damental Award - Camille Heckmann

This award was presented to an enthusiastic individual with contagious positivity within our firm who personified the following Fundamentals: (15) Celebrate Achievement, (22) Show Meaningful Appreciation, (24) Be Positive and (33) Keep Things Fun

“Camille has really asserted herself as a leader in the FI audit practice this year by anticipating team needs, assuming additional responsibilities and honoring commitments. She really stepped up and helped the FI audit team succeed. We're very proud of her efforts,” said Financial Institution Senior Manager, Josh Jackson, CPA.

 

The Key Communicator Award - Jeanne Profita

This award was presented to an attentive and purposeful individual within our firm who epitomized the following Fundamentals: (4) Be Present, (13) Speak Openly and Honestly, (14) Listen to Understand, (16) Be a Fanatic about Response Time and (20) Get Clear on Expectations

“She is always communicating what needs to be done and is very responsive to clients,” said Tax Shareholder, Glenn Scharf, CPA.

 

The Foundation Award - Lisa Piotter

This award was presented to a person recognized for excellence in leadership and integrity and exemplifies the following Fundamentals: (1) Do the Right Thing, Always, (9) Honor Commitments, (23) Deliver Results, (27) Embrace Change and (32) Treasure, Protect and Promote our Reputation

“Lisa lives all these fundamentals daily. She has assumed leadership of the Tax Admin group this year and has done a spectacular job of moving into that position with the support of admin that have been at the firm longer. She is a natural leader and maintains cool under pressure. Her personal ethics are impeccable, and she is the first to own it when a ball gets dropped. She is a great problem solver and can pivot when needed. Most of all, she loves our Saltmarsh family,” Tax Shareholder, Beth Varhalla, CPA.

 

The Saltmarsh All-Star Award - Jason Keith, CIA, CISA 

This award was presented to a person of character within our firm who embodies all 33 of our Fundamentals on an everyday basis. 

“Jason is like 10 awesome people in one person. He has vast knowledge across functional lines and is always willing to lend a hand. He’s as smart as a whip and even more humble. I’m in awe. I love to put him in front of both new and best clients,” said Financial Institution Senior Manager Sarah Oliver, CRCM
