Tax Alert: Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria Tax Relief for Businesses

10/12/2017

One of the additional relief provisions added by recent legislation after Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria is the Employee Retention Credit. The Employee Retention Credit seeks to reward employers with a tax credit for retaining certain employees even during the interruption caused by the storms, provided said employees worked in a FEMA designated disaster area (which for Florida is all 67 counties, all of Georgia’s Counties and certain specified Counties in Texas).

For full details on background, purposes of and qualifications for this relief provision, view our Tax Alert: Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria Tax Relief for Businesses.
