Saltmarsh Hosts 13th Annual Community Bank Events in Tampa

10/3/2018 - By Zachary Farrington

Our 13th Annual Community Bank Events in Tampa featured three unique sessions with subject matter experts who focused on topics relevant in today’s banking and financial landscapes. Cyber security concerns and strategies dominated the conversation of our Technology Funnel, which kicked-off the two-day event. Speakers from the FDIC and FBI gave great insight into upcoming changes and threats. Respectively, they discussed updates to InTREx and what current threat vectors are of greatest impact. To cap off the Funnel, Stephen Reyes asked everyone to rethink their security priorities and offered his technology forecasts for the coming year.

The Compliance Funnel featured speakers covering a broad range of issues, including marijuana. Tara Tedrow of Lowndes, P.A. shared the facts on Marijuana and Cannabis Laws and Ordinances that are affecting the industry, and Kristen Stogniew covered everything from HMDA 2018 and Reg Relief to TRID and Fair Lending. Best practices and practical lessons were shared in the interactive Compliance Officer panel, moderated by Sarah Oliver.

The Executive Forum began with a discussion on the challenges and opportunities of FinTech partnerships presented by Robert Savoie of McGlinchey Stafford. Glenn Blackwood and Joe Schaefer of Equias Alliance presented on BOLI, SERP and Executive Compensation, while Jack Greeley provided an overview of recent M&A Activity.

The highlight of the Forum was the CEO-2-CEO Panel on De Novo banks, which featured David Dotherow of Winter Park National Bank, Joe Dorsey of Coastal Community Bank, N.A. (In Organization), Dennis Murphy of Gulfside Bank, and Todd Katz of Tarpon Coast Bank. Finally, Saltmarsh Shareholders Paul AllenKristen Stogniew, and Stephen Reyes shared Executive Highlights on the subjects of Accounting Standards, Compliance, and IT/Cyber Security.

Thank you to our sponsors and guests for making this such a great event! We look forward to seeing you all next year.
