WEBINAR MATERIALS: CMMC Readiness (Part 1) - NIST 800-171 and Your Cyber Score

1/28/2021

Webinar held on Thursday, January 28, 2021.

Implementation of the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) is upon us and companies working with the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) will soon need to meet CMMC requirements to bid on contracts.  CMMC builds upon the existing National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication (SP) 800-171, which forms the basis for DFARS cybersecurity requirements.

While the implementation of this regulation has been long-awaited, a recent interim rule change made on September 29th of last year included a new and unexpected requirement.  You are now required to report your cyber self-assessment score in the SPRS system. While CMMC compliance will be phased in over a five-year period, this requirement to calculate and report your self-assessment score is already in effect.

In this webinar presented by Stephen Reyes, CISA, CISSP, CMMC-AB Provisional Assessor, and Jason Keith, CIA, CISA, CMMC-AB Registered Practitioner, will share valuable perspectives on navigating these new requirements. We will focus on key considerations and common questions, including:

  • Breaking down CMMC and NIST 800-171 requirements
  • What is my cybersecurity score telling me?
  • How do I correctly identify gaps?
  • Leveraging NIST 800-171 for CMMC compliance
