Saltmarsh Attends the 2015 Economic, Legislative and Policy Summit

11/11/2015 - By Abbey Lelina

John Mascaro, CPA was invited to participate in the "Economic, Legislative & Policy Summit" earlier this month in Houston, Texas. This exclusive invite-only event is part of the thinktank series held by alliantgroup.

Mascaro was included in a panel discussion and "ThinkTank Session" that focused strictly on economic growth. He provided feedback about various legislations and how it directly impacts Saltmarsh's small business clients, business owners and individual tax payers.

He was among former IRS commissioners, state governors and D.C. Tax Committee staffers. They interpreted the impact that our lawmakers face with regard to our current business tax & reform, legislative changes and the upcoming presidential election.

U.S. Congressman Kevin Brady was the event keynote speaker and is the current Chairman of the Joint Economic Committee. He was recently chosen to become the Chairman of the Committee on Ways and Means. In his new position, his top priority will be helping our tax code by renewing several tax credits and deductions that expired at the end of 2015, which is commonly known as tax extenders. He also has high interests in increasing trade within our country, reforming welfare, Social Security and Medicare.

Attending this event gave John the opportunity to interact with individuals who are directly responsible for past and current legislation impacting many of Saltmarsh's clients. John obtained a leading edge view of the current landscape and of the probability of forthcoming changes in both pending tax legislation and IRS procedures and policies. He also strengthened his contacts with lobbyists, legislators and IRS officials that should prove useful to Saltmarsh's client base when dealing with future tax issues and controversies.
