Team Saltmarsh Takes on Day of Caring and Pensacola Mud Run

10/13/2014 - By Abbey Lelina

Saltmarshians have been quite busy this weekend! On Friday, we participated in United Way's Day of Caring and on Saturday, we got muddy at the Pensacola Mud Run.

At Day of Caring, we went to a Community Action Program facility and helped the children fingerpaint on white sheets and stretched them to a canvas afterward. These masterpieces are to be sold in various auctions to benefit their Head Start Program, which is an educational service for low income pre-school children. They promote the development of children on top of providing nutritional, social and health services.  They currently provide these services for 855 children and their families.

On Saturday, our Saltmarsh Mud Crew conquered the 2nd annual Pensacola Mud Run. This was not your an ordinary 5K. It was a 20 piece obstacle course that got real messy, real fast. There was a human car wash and a place to donate your muddy shoes at the end of the race. All proceeds went to Pathways For Change, which is a faith-based organization that helps victims of addiction and crime recover from destructive lifestyles. They save lives, increase safety of our community and help build futures for participants and their families.
