The 2014 Tacky Sweater Holiday Mixer

In the Pensacola office, we kicked off the Christmas holiday with a Tacky Sweater Holiday Mixer. 

Amongst the chaos of the tacky sweaters, we started it off with a Saltmarsh Trivia game, learning quirky facts about our fellow co-workers. It was fascinating to hear about off-beat hobbies and bucket list items that they got to cross of their list. We also fueled our creativity with our "Build-A-Christmas Tree/Snowman" game. It was comical to see others wrapped in toilet paper and aluminum foil. Needless to say, the teamwork was impressive. (Check out the photo gallery for proof)

What is a successful event without putting our shareholders on the spot? We held a shareholder fashion show and as they glamorously strutted down the runway, we shared embarrassing facts about them.  Who knew that one of our shareholders likes to hold a picture of Stevie Nicks in their wallet? 

In an office with multiple departments, events help us get to know our co-workers. We learned that it is mighty easy to start a conversation about eccentric sweaters. We also learned that sometimes, tacky has no bounds. Some sweaters had lights, some sweaters had a digital fireplace, and some sweaters were just plain ugly. 

All in all, we should be thankful for tacky sweater themed parties because it gives us the chance to ignore fashion norms with pride.
