Saltmarsh Surpasses Community Service Goal for 75th Anniversary

We are excited to honor our founding year, 1944, by contributing more than 1,944 community service hours! We've achieved this goal three months ahead of schedule in 2019 and can't wait to see how many hours we are able to contribute by the end of our 75th anniversary year.

“We are in awe of the overall generosity shown in the communities in which we serve, and we are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to so many causes as we celebrate our 75th anniversary,” said Lee Bell, Saltmarsh president. “As we look ahead to the remainder of the year and into next year, we are happy to use our celebration as a platform to bring greater awareness to the needs and organizations doing great work in our communities.”

As part of the year-long celebration of its 75th anniversary, Florida’s leading CPA/financial advisory firm scheduled monthly community service projects across the region. Most recently, the firm capitalized on the back-to-school spirit by hosting a school supply drive to benefit the Guardian ad Litem circuits. Saltmarsh team members, clients and local communities provided 80 children across the state with the necessary supplies to start the 2019/2020 school year.

In June, the Saltmarsh team focused on community building in Pensacola and Tampa. The Pensacola office spent a day at Gulf Coast Kid’s House where they cleaned therapy rooms, installed an organization system for puppets and assisted staff with an office move. The Gulf Coast Kid’s House is a children’s advocacy center that serves children in Escambia County and facilitates the investigation, prosecution, and treatment of child abuse and neglect while promoting child abuse prevention awareness through community education.

With Saltmarsh’s heavy construction client base, the Tampa office spent a day in late June helping to build a home for a family in the area with Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas County. In a record-breaking four hours, the team, along with homeowner candidates, painted the exterior of the home and installed hurricane shutters. Habitat for Humanity has been creating homeownership opportunities for low-income people and families since 1985 and has served more than 700 families to date in the Pinellas and West Pasco counties.

Saltmarsh kicked off 2019 with their Say Yes to Your Dress drive to benefit the GFWC South Baldwin Women’s Club by calling for donations of new and gently used prom gowns, formal dresses, shoes, jewelry and accessories for the club’s Prom Closet event held on March 24. The event helps young ladies of South Baldwin County who would like to attend their prom, but do not have the resources to purchase a dress. With the help of local communities, Saltmarsh collected 51 dresses, along with shoes and accessories.

“Our team enthusiastically embraced our 75th anniversary celebration challenge to complete an extra 1,944 hours of community service this year, and we blew past that goal by mid-September. With more than three months left in the year, and several service projects still to complete, our team may well surpass 2,000 additional hours,” said Bell. “The team is already looking forward to next year’s community service goal.”
